| From the warm caretaker's house where I live, I look across the small harbor to Smuttynose Island . It stretches out below the northeast horizon, full of dark brush and light ledge. There are two buildings on the island, one very old. I am often drawn there to stand beside it, to photograph it. When I look at Haley house, I can almost hear its stories, almost... like a whisper through the centuries. |
